Easy morning today, we don’t need to be anywhere until later.
So we took the opportunity to have a wander further around the ship having a coffee at a nice cafe we have found on the 5th floor.
It is terribly noisy this morning, so many activities going on but they seem to be in all the public spaces.
Zumba, bingo etc. everything is so loud.

We finally find a lounge up on the 14th floor which is what we have been looking for. A place to sit and read and watch out the windows as we glide by.

And then they started playing Trivial Pursuit……..

Anyhoo, it is still a good spot to be.
Spotting a few magnificent bald eagles that seem to be dancing in front of the boat before heading back to their nest. They are easy to spot in their nest if you know how. Just look for what looks like a golf ball ( or 2) in the trees.



As we are approaching Icy Strait we are able to spot a couple of humpback whales having a little play around some of the islands.

Arrived into Icy Strait Point a little ahead of time and watched with interest this enormous ship being parked and secured. After the ship is cleared, we are free to leave and have until 9.30 tonight to play. 
I don’t think we’ll be out that long.



There are lots of activities to do here including zip lining, and an adventure course plus an incredibly steep gondola that goes to the top of a mountain.
There is also a much more sedate gondola that just takes across the island, that’s our plan.
This gondola takes us to the historic Icy Strait Point salmon cannery. This areas main industry in the past.
Unfortunately the cannery is a very big souvenir shop although housed along side some great relics of times past.


















We catch a shuttle bus that takes us to the small indigenous community of the Tlingit people in Hoonah ( Xunaa in local language)



Population 900.
It is a great community and these people are proud.













Grabbed some lunch at a food truck run by a guy from Texas, who comes here for the summer season.





We head back on to the shuttle and gondola towards the ship.
Lots of security getting back on. Passport , screening etc but we are also greeted with a lovely Hot chocolate.





Quick refresh in our room then off for a sundowner be for another dinner in that crazy posh restaurant.

A very big two day Wednesday begins for us at 4.30am. We will pick Geoff and Lisa up at 5.30 for a trip to Canada and Alaska. This being, for us a belated 60th birthday celebration for our Lisa. Our flight leaves at 10 and will fly directly to Vancouver but our return is complicated by a Vancouver to Sydney leg therefore Sydney to Brisbane. Thus car parked at domestic and we shuttled to the International, to be fair it all worked very well. Arrived in Vancouver about 6.30 on the morning of the 7th again. So crazy, none of us really slept. As the lights went down in the plane for rest, it was about 3.30pm our time, not really bed time. More conducive to binging White Lotus season 1. About an hour and a half before a quick flight to Calgary. Uber to the hotel and thankfully they were super organised, ready to sort out apparently 4 sleep deprived tours groups? Very restless night but so good to be lying flat in a bed regardless of whether there was sleep or night. Up showered and downstairs for a very busy breakfast before jumping on our bus and loosely meeting the 44 people we will be spending the next week with. Our first stop was Windsport Athletic Centre on the outskirts of Calgary. The centre is nestled under and around the 70 and 90 m ski jump. So pleased to see this, as we could see the jump from the Calgary tower yesterday afternoon. It was great, outside the centre is the actual bobsled used in the film ‘cool running’ about the Jamaican bobsled team. Inside we were able to watch the Calgarian ice hockey team training, some beautiful figure skaters training also. Looked around at all the indoor facilities, there are 4 indoor ice skating rinks and the only indoor skeleton training track!  Outside we could still see evidence of snow ski and board jumps, standard down hill and a half pipe.  This joint hosts world class athlete...

Today has been a day we have all been very excited for. The opportunity to visit and actually walk on one of the ancient glaciers in this part of Canada. Before that tho, we must mention the dreadful sleep that Stuart and had on our side of the Hotel. The Hotel sits directly beside the train track of the Canadian pacific railway. All night, probably every hour or so approx near 150 carriages with 3 engines travelled under our window. The window had to be open coz the dodgy aircon wasn’t working. Oh my, it almost became laughable. I am so glad Geoff and Lisa did a little better as they were on the other side of the Hotel  A little bit of a later start today and after a hearty breakfast, we head off. Today we travel again through Banff National Park on our way to the Icelands Parkway that runs through Banff and Jasper National Park.
